ENRS had the honor to be a co-organiser of the conference on Christians in the Soviet Occupation Zone/GDR, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Ukraince is held in Bad Kissingen, Germany.
‘Hi-story lessons. Teaching and learning about 20th-century Europe’ is a multilingual educational project dedicated to teachers, professors, pupils and educational specialists, interested in the history of Central European countries. The aim of the project is to create an e-space to help teach and develop learning processes of complex historical events and phenomena.
The Freedom Express campaign started in September 2014 with 20 young Europeans going on a study trip. They visited six countries of the former Easter bloc and commemorated the 25th anniversary of the fall of communism in Europe. Time was spent in meetings and workshops, discussing and exchanging opinions. Participants of the project had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the witnesses of history and to experience the atmosphere of late 1980s.
‘Sound in the Silence’ is an interdisciplinary remembrance project dedicated to school-aged teenagers from different countries. Each edition focuses on a specific location and history of a particular place in the 20th century. The first edition took place in the former concentration camp Neuengamme (Germany), the next one in the area of a former military area Borne Sulinowo (Poland) and in 2015 the project focused on the Polish city Gdańsk and its surroundings.
