Day of Hungarian Heroes is celebrated annualy, on the last Sunday of May. The holiday was declared in 1925, cancelled under the Soviet influence after the Second World War and restored in 1989. The main celebrations take place at the Heroes' Square (Hősök tere) in Budapest.
- Treaty of Trianon

97 years ago, on 4 June 1920, in the Trianon Palace, near Paris, Hungary signed the peace treaty with the Allied and Associated Powers. Hungarian territory was reduced to less than one-third (32,6%) of its former property, and it lost almost 60% of its population. In addition, Hungary had to pay war reparations to its neighbours. For many Hungarians the Treaty of Trianon remains a symbol of national tragedy.

The first, since the end of Wold War II, partially free legislative elections in Poland. The elections were held on the principles agreed during the Round Table: 65% of the seats in Sejm were reserved for members of the Communist Party and its satellite parties, but they also could contest for the remainig 35%. As a result, the Solidarity candidates gained 161 out of 161 seats in Sejm and 99 out of 100 seats in Senate. These elections were crucial to the fall of communist regime and the birth of the Polish Third Republic.
