First democratic elections in Spain after 36 years of dictatorship

On 15 June 1977, Spain held democratic Parliament elections for the first time after the Franco dictatorship (1939-1975). The elected Parliament and the president, Adolfo Suárez, started to work on the draft of the new Constitution, which would be passed one year later. The country would become a Constitutional Monarchy.
