Eighty years after the end of the Second World War, its legacy continues to shape our world. Borders, societies, identities, and even today’s geopolitics still carry echoes of the conflict that involved 80% of the globe. To explore how this history is understood today, the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS) invites journalists worldwide to enter the competition:
“WWII 80 Years After. What Remains From the Second World War Today?”
Who can take part?
The competition is open to journalists, publishers, and freelancers who published work between 1 January and 31 December 2025 on the impact of WWII in contemporary life.
What to cover?
Possible themes include:
• Geopolitical consequences of the war
• Recurring historical processes
• Intergenerational trauma
• National identity and memory
• Post-war architecture
• Historical education
Categories
• Written work – press or online article (excluding blogs and social media)
• Audio material – radio programme, podcast, or recording
• Audiovisual material – video report, documentary, or TV programme
Prizes and recognition
An international jury — featuring renowned historian Keith Lowe (Savage Continent) — will award €2,500 in each category. Winning entries will also be published on www.enrs.eu and widely promoted on social media.
How to enter

• Include an English translation (text, transcript, or subtitles) and a link or scan confirming publication
