Fast 200 Vertreter von 120 Institutionen und nichtstaatlichen Organisationen, die sich auf die Geschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts konzentrieren, haben über die Form und Natur der zeitgenössischer Kultur der Erinnerung und allgemeiner historischer Bildung. Die Veranstaltung wurde von Europäischem Netzwerk Erinnerung und Solidarität, Bundesstiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur und Europäischem Zentrum für Solidarität organisiert.

Jahrhunderts konzentrieren, haben über die Form und Natur der zeitgenössischer Kultur der Erinnerung und allgemeiner historischer Bildung. Die Veranstaltung wurde von Europäischem Netzwerk Erinnerung und Solidarität, Bundesstiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur und Europäischem Zentrum für Solidarität organisiert.

Basil Kerski (Director of European Solidarity Centre); Andrzej Paczkowski (Council of the Institute of National Remembrance, Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Collegium Civitas) and Keith Lowe (historian, author of "Inferno: The Devastation of Hamburg" and "Savage Continent: Europe in the Aftermath of World War II") answer questions about differences between Eastern and Western European collective memory.

Almost 200 representatives from 120 institutions and non-governmental organisations focussing on 20th-century history from 23 European countries discussed the form and nature of the contemporary culture of remembrance and associated historical education.

The event was organised by European Network Remembrance and Solidarity, the Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship, and the European Solidarity Centre.

II Sympozjum „Pamięć Europy” (European Remembrance Symposium) odbyło się między 10 a 12 października 2013 r. Prawie 200 przedstawicieli 120 instytucji i organizacji zajmujących się historią XX wieku z 23 krajów przyjechało do Berlina by dyskutować o współczesnej kulturze pamięci i związanej z nią edukacją historyczną. Sympozjum zorganizowała Europejska Sieć Pamięć i Solidarność, Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship oraz Europejskie Centrum Solidarności.
