My name is Ayaansh Purwar and I am going to describe some family photos of mine that are very old (I found them in the attic.) Nostalgia crept in as I discovered some old photos from my family album.
The first picture is of my late great grandmother with my mother and her cousins on the terrace of the house. This picture is the reflection of the algorithm of family and the bonding with grandparents and cousins. A unique reflection of the charm of joint families. I could feel the concept of joint families, which was an integral part of Indian tradition. Now we are aping the west, but the beauty of our roots makes me lonely in this distant land. My mother tells me that she and her cousins in those days played games like Tag and Hide and Seek on the terrace of the house. From this, I learned that family times were cherished merrily at that time. This photo is also a reflection of an era gone by. Though my great grandmother has died, she has still left her footprints in the sands of time.
From this I learned that family bonds at that were truly made of gold.
The second picture is my ancestral home. It reflects the old architecture and it shows how buildings were built at that time. In that era, though they were not as advanced as now and tall as skyscrapers, they built bigger and larger houses.
The third picture shows my great-great grandmother wearing a white saree. This shows that the attire reflects simplicity. Six yards, saree was what the elderly woman wore. Men wore white Dhotis. Simple living and high thinking were the philosophy that they believed in.
The little baby in a blue frock in the fourth picture is my mother when she was six months old. You will notice that she has a black dot on her forehead, no it is not an injury but a power that does not let evil eyes affect her. This is a tradition, thus is present on all babies in India.
Therefore, from these photos I now have a deeper understanding of my family culture in those times.
