Kamil Nedvědický is a legal expert with a focus on legal history, constitutional law, criminal justice, penal policy, and human rights. Born in 1977, he holds an advanced law degree (JUDr.) from the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague and is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Security and Legal Studies at the Police Academy of the Czech Republic.
He served at the Ministry of the Interior from 2001 to 2016, where he worked in asylum and migration policy, eventually advising the First Deputy Minister for Internal Security. From 2015 to 2022, he held several senior roles at the Ministry of Justice, focusing on criminal policy, prisons, and the coordination of subordinate judicial institutions.
Since May 2022, he has been Deputy Director of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes and has served as its First Deputy Director since October 2022.
He lectures and publishes extensively on topics including legal history, criminal law, asylum and migration, constitutional rights, and penal reform. He is a member of the European Society for History of Law, the Czech Society of Criminology, and other professional organizations. He has also participated in international cooperation projects, including the Norway Grants and the Czech-Saxon Cooperation Programme.
