2-3 June 2025, Budapest, Hungary
Eighty years after the end of World War II, the challenges of remembrance and historical education remain as urgent as ever. As living memory fades, educators and cultural professionals must find new ways to connect younger generations with the complex legacies of the war.
This two-day event in Budapest will bring together historians, teachers, and representatives of memorial institutions to examine how we teach and commemorate WWII today. Through keynote lectures, debates, film screenings, theatre, and hands-on workshops, the conference will explore personal narratives, interdisciplinary approaches, and creative educational tools to engage diverse audiences with the war’s history and memory.
Part of the ENRS campaign ‘WWII – 80 Years After’, the conference will serve as a platform for dialogue and exchange on best practices in historical education. Hosted at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), the event will be held in both English and Hungarian.
