Brezhnev's death

Leonid Brezhnev died in Moscow on 10 November 1982. His successor Yuri Andropov died after 14 months in office, and the next Soviet leader, Konstantin Chernenko, died after 13 months in office. The ineffective governance by the gerontocracy weakened the Soviet Union
