Teachers from countries within the European Union can now apply to take part in a unique project for secondary school students, based on a cutting-edge formula of combining visits to memory sites, on-site history learning and processing the past through art. The recruitment for this year’s edition of Sound in the Silence, organised by the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS) and local partner in Poland, Museum Dulag 121, is now open. The deadline for applications is 4 May 2025.
The 2025 edition of Sound in the Silence (27 September – 05 October 2025) will take place in Pruszków, Poland, exploring the history of the Dulag 121 transit camp. Established by Nazi Germany in August 1944, the camp held between 390,000 and 650,000 expelled Warsaw residents, many of whom were sent to labor or concentration camps.
Today, this is an industrial area. However, the Dulag 121 Museum works to commemorate the victims, preserve their stories, and honor those who helped them. A train ride through Pruszków reveals one of the few reminders: “Warsaw passed through here.”
This edition of the project aims to restore memory through artistic expression. Participants will explore personal stories of those who passed through Dulag 121, reflecting on resilience and hardship. Sound in the Silence in Pruszków will bridge past and present, helping a new generation engage with history and its ongoing relevance.
The programme's artistic director and rap/creative writing workshop leader will be Dan Wolf, a hip-hop artist and author of numerous music and theatre projects in the US and Europe. The movement and choreography workshops will be led by choreographer and dancer Kat Rampackova (Slovakia). Sean Palmer (Ireland), a performer, musician and composer from the UK will teach sound and musicality. Tetiana Kriukovska (Ukraine), a facilitator and trainer specialised in moderation and intercultural dialogue, will be responsible for group dynamics and integration.
We invite humanities teachers, such as history, ethics, civic education, English and national languages!

We are looking forward to your applications until 4 May 2025.
