Polish 1970 protests

Following a drastic, government-ordered increase in food prices, between 14 and 22 December mass strikes and demonstrations broke out in Gdańsk and other coastal cities of Poland, and included attacks on communist party offices. The intervening military resorted to the use of firearms. 41 people were killed and 1164 injured.
