End of Second World War in Europe

This day marks the anniversary of the end of the greatest catastrophe in human history that cost millions of lives and dramatically changed the modern world. On 8 May 1945, known as Victory in Europe Day, or V-E Day, the World War II in Europe ended after the unconditional surrender of Germany. The war in the Pacific continued for another three months, ending on 2 September 1945.
