Rafał Rogulski, Director of the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS), took part in the LRE Forum organised by the Liberation Route Europe Foundation in Arnhem and Nijmegen. The event brought together representatives of memory institutions, museums, historians, and educators from across Europe to discuss remembrance practices and the transmission of historical memory.

The annual LRE Forum, organised by the Liberation Route Europe Foundation, serves as a platform for exchange among institutions and professionals working with the heritage and memory of the Second World War. This year’s edition, held in Arnhem and Nijmegen in the Netherlands, gathered participants from across Europe to discuss the role of remembrance in contemporary societies and to reflect on how historical experiences are communicated to new generations.

During the conference, Rafał Rogulski participated in the opening panel and held meetings with representatives of partner institutions. The discussions focused on the ways European organisations address difficult historical legacies and on how cooperation between memory institutions can support responsible and engaging approaches to history and remembrance.

The programme also included the opening of the 'Art of Remembrance' exhibition in Nijmegen, conference sessions at the Netherlands Open Air Museum in Arnhem, and the LRE Gala held at the historic Eusebius Church. Participants additionally took part in a series of study visits to important sites connected with the history of the Second World War, including the Freedom Museum in Groesbeek, the Canadian War Cemetery, the Airborne Museum Hartenstein, and the historic landscape of Ginkelse Heide.

The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange experiences, strengthen international cooperation, and reflect on the continuing presence of the past in contemporary European societies.
