At a convention of Hungarian intellectuals under the slogan "Opportunities for the Hungarians" (A Magyarsag eselyei) in Lakitelek, the Hungarian Democratic Forum was founded on 27 September 1987. It was the first opposition political party in Hungary, which was populist-conservative.
