Proclamation of the Second Spanish Republic

Republican and Socialist parties triumphed in the municipal elections held all over Spain on 12 April 1931. They requested King’s Alfonso XIII abdication and consequently the military withdrawed its support. On 14 April, the King Alfonso XIII fled and the Second Spanish Republic (1931-1936) was proclaimed.
