Rafał Rogulski remains the Director of the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity. He has been officially reappointed for another term by Marta Cienkowska, Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland.
Rafał Rogulski studied cultural and political science at the Universities of Wrocław and Marburg. Early in his career, he worked as a journalist for the daily Życie and the bimonthly journal Europa. He later served as an assistant and advisor to Professor Władysław Bartoszewski, first at the Polish Robert Schuman Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998–2001), and subsequently at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland (2008–2012). From 2001 to 2005 he was Secretary of the Culture Department at the Polish Embassy in Berlin.
In 2010, Ministers Tomasz Merta and Andrzej Przewoźnik entrusted him with the establishment and management of the Secretariat of the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity. This institution, which has played an increasingly significant role in fostering international dialogue on historical memory and reconciliation, became the Institute of European Network Remembrance and Solidarity in 2015, with Rogulski continuing to steer its development.
Under his leadership, the Network recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of collaboration among partner institutions in Poland, Germany and other European countries to promote research, education and public engagement on the difficult legacies of Europe’s 20thcentury history. His work has been widely recognised for strengthening transnational understanding and commemorative practices across the region.
