Romania signs the Treaty of Friendship, Alliance and Mutual Assistance with the Soviet Union

In Moscow, on 4 February 1948 Romania signs the so-called Treaty of Friendship, Alliance and Mutual Assistance with the USSR, for a period of 20 years. By doing this, Romania officially became one of Moscow's satellites. According to the Treaty, Romania was meant to consult the Soviet Union in all aspects related to its foreign policy.
