Romanian Constitution Day

On 8 December 1991, the current Constitution of Romania was ratified in a national referendum, replacing the one adopted by the communist authorities in 1948 (later revised in 1952 and in 1965).

The Constitution of 1991 established Romania as a national independent state and reflected its return to democracy after the downfall of communism. The anniversary of its ratification is observed in Romania as the Constitution Day.
