"Singing Revolution"

The freedom movement in the Soviet Union gains momentum. Following the spontaneous mass night-singing in Tallinn on 10-11 June 1988, Estonia, the artist Heinz Valk popularises the term "singing revolution" for the efforts of the Baltic states to gain independence. Soon the front grows to a membership of 250,000.
