Whose memory? Migrations and Memory of Cities

    November 2015 – February 2016, Łódź/Ústí nad Labem/Hoyerswerda/Košice

The international series of discussions focused on current research trends of migration history and regional history.

Framed by the research of the Collegium Carolinum about the transformation of local memory of forced migration during the Second World War, the discussions tried to answer the following questions: Is it possible to find European memory cultures referring to migrations during the second half of the 20th century on a local level? What impact do current experiences of migration have on traditions of memory?
