Exactly 10 years ago, the Polish presidential plane crashed near Smolensk (Russia) killing 96 people of the delegation of Polish representatives, headed by the President Lech Kaczynski and the last Polish Pesident in exile, Ryszard Kaczorowski. The delegation intended to pay tribute to the victims of the Katyn Massacre (the mass executions of the Polish officers carried out by the NKVD) during the official commemoration of its 70th anniversary.
Among the victims were also Andrzej Przewoźnik, the Secretary General of the Council for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom Sites and Tomasz Merta, the Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage, who were both deeply engaged in the creation of the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity.
