Die 4. Edition des Symposiums der Europäischer Erinnerung in Wien wurde vom Europäischen Netzwerk Erinnerung und Solidarität organisiert. Mehr als 200 Vertreter von 120 Einrichtungen, die sich mit der Geschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts beschäftigen haben daran teilgenommen. Das Symposium wurde der Erinnerung an dem II. Weltkrieg und denjenigen, die daran teilgenommen haben gewidmet.

Das Ziel vom Symposium der Europäischer Erinnerung ist es, Erfahrungen auszutauschen und Methoden sowie Forme der Zusammenarbeit zwischen Einrichtungen aus verschiedenen Ländern zu etablieren. Vertreter von europäischen historischen Einrichtungen werden dazu aufgefordert, die Herausforderungen, vor denen die europäische Idee der Kultur der Erinnerung steht zu diskutieren. Die Tagungen sind für alle Fachleute, die sich mit der Geschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts beschäftigen offen.
